A friend from Sweden has travelled to around 60 coutries in the world. I asked him which countries or places are the most impressive or shocking to him. He thought for a while and answered: India and North Korea. No China? Yes. Reasons? North Korea is understandable. As for India, he said that when he got to China from India, he felt he was back to Europe--cities are quite well organized. Of course, he has only been to certain big cities in China such as Beijing and Shanghai but never been to countryside. I told him in China, actually there is huge difference between big modern cities and many places of countryside. He agreed but argued that in India, even in the capital New Delhi, the city is more like a chaos and many beggars and animals on the road....
He further told me that China is the country he found it is the most difficult to communicate with local people in English. That is to say, Chinese people's English is almost the worst among the 60 countries he has ever been. Or we can generalize the conclusion unscientifically--Chinese people's English is almost the worst in the world! So what about Japanese people? They are famous for their silly heavy accent--they are not good neither but a little bit better than Chinese. Then what about North Korean people? Do you mean their English is even better than us?? "I don't know," he was quite innocent, "coz I was not allowed to talk to local people in North Korea..."
OK, so that's acceptable....Then I felt happy with
